
Some Area Info: Troy Vermont is a town in the county of Orleans and consists of two villages, Troy and North Troy. North Troy has a port of entry from Canada and borders Newport to the east, Lowell to the south and Jay and Westfield to the west. The town of Troy is 36.1 sq. miles and has a population of approximately 1705. Troy was chartered is 1801 and was called Missisquoi, named after the river that runs through from the south to the north. The name was changed to Troy in 1803 and it was a big farming community and still is today. Troy is a popular location for families looking for a second home that is near Jay Peak Resort.
Attractions and Recreation: The Missiquoi River running through the town of Troy offers two very impressive swimming holes that are popular with both locals and visitors to the area. Big Falls is located off of River Road in North Troy and offers some huge waterfalls. In the spring time with the winter run off, the river and falls will get moving so fast that it can be a pretty amazing site. The other swimming hole is called 4 corners and is located across the street from Boutin’s Mini mart.
