Some Area Info: Barton was chartered in 1789 and was named after Colonel William Barton. Famous for the photogenic Crystal Lake, with its state park, beach and spectacular cliff side views, this town has a population of about 2780 and consists of roughly 45 square miles. At one time there were seven granite quarries in the town and the railroads, which began construction there in 1858, were instrumental in moving the granite blocks out of town. Barton has its own electric company, staffed and maintained by the town and services 2100 customers.

Attractions and Recreation: Pageant Park at Crystal Lake is owned by the town, and there is also a state maintained park on the lake as well. The VAST trail system is accessed by snow machines from various locations throughout the town and there are also VAST trails for ATV enthusiasts. The Orleans County Fair takes place at the Barton Fairgrounds for 5 days every August.
